St. Mary’s Church
Located in close proximity to the “oldest apple orchid” in Shimla is a popular catholic shrine called “St Mary’s Church”. This 18th century church built by the Moravian missionaries and the Church Missionary Society is situated in Himachal Pradesh. This church is known for its exquisitely designed interiors, and is surrounded by extremely well-manicured mustard farms. In addition, to its architectural splendour and picturesque beauty that surrounds it there are number places worth visiting. Of note is a place called “Thanedar”, home to the first apple orchids ever to be planted in Shimla.

c. Religious significance of the St. Mary’s Church
There is no real religious significance attached to this magnificent church apart from a story associated to its inception. One such story claims that this church was built in 1843 while the church records states that it was built in 1872.
