St Francis Church

Covered by the beautiful branches of the “deodhar trees” is an enchanting catholic shrine in Himachal Pradesh called St Francis Church. This church which possesses a structure of over 100 years is located in Dalhousie. In addition, this church is also known to comprise of glass and stonework of the highest quality. Furthermore, this scenic church has been maintained and administered by the “Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar.  In close proximity to this church, lies the residence of the priest’s known as “Alverna” also commonly referred to as “Lambe Chole Wale Padir Ki Kothi”.

The climate is pleasant in Dalhousie especially during the summer with the temperature ranging from maximum of 35 degree Celsius to a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this church would be from March to May.

c. Religious significance of the St Francis Church

There is no major religious significance or folklore attached to this church. Apart from the fact that this church was constructed in 1894 during the British Raj using funds raised by army officers, civil officers, and civilians living around the area where this church was eventually built.
