According to a myth in the Jain religion the “Shatrunjaya Hill” where these Jain temples were supposed to have been built apparently was sanctified by the first Thirthankara of Jain religion called Rishabha. It was on this hill that Rishabha delivered his first sermon. Additionally, it was also on this hill that the grandson of Rishabha finally found moksha i.e. salvation. A legend also states that Bharata the father of Pundarik and half-brother of Bahubali constructed a temple on this hill.
